Math Workshop is a balance approach to teaching math that gives children long stretches of time to grow as mathematicians as they: * practice math skills and app; math strategies with games and hands-on manipulative. * practice math skills independently, with partners, in small groups & with the whole group. * have opportunities to talk about their learning using mathematical language and record their thinking and learning in math journals. * receive individualized instruction from teacher.

Mini - Lesson 10 minutes A short lesson around a specific learning target that equips students with a math strategy they practice and use that day and every day forward. Learning targets are translated into "I Can..." statements so children can easily verbalize what they are learning.

Workshop 25 minutes Children practice and apply math strategies: * independently and with partners * through games and hands-on manipulatives * by working with teachers through -individual conferring -small group direct instruction Share Time 5 minutes An important closure to the Math Workshop when the class gathers together to share and celebrate the strategies they used during the workshop time.
